Chapter 6
The 473 and 473-C Postal Exam

Correction: Page 117. The correct answer for sample question S1 is (B) not A. The sender's address is entered in Box 10 on the back of the form. Corrected in second printing.

Correction: Page 137. Memory test item #5. This paragraph states, "You are allowed to make notes on the exam booklet during the memory test." We had one report from a person who recently took the exam. His reported that he was disqualified because he put notes in the exam booklet during the memory test. Page 8 of the Postal Service's "Applicant Information Package" states, "Unless instructed otherwise for a specific part, you may make notes or write anywhere in this test booklet. Note that nothing you record in this test booklet will count for or against you in scoring the test."

Several test proctors watch test takers during the exam to insure they aren't cheating and they specifically advise you not to make notes in your exam booklet during the PRACTICE memory test. They do this so the testers won't copy the coding chart on the exam booklet test page. However, during the actual memory test you typically can make notes in the booklet.

CAUTION: You are also judged on how well you follow instructions. During the exam, if you have a question, ask it before they issue the notice to start that section and follow their instructions at all times or your exam may be disqualified.
