The Federal Reserve manages the nation’ s monetary policy to maximum employment to provide stable prices and influence along with moderate long-term interest rates, supervises and regulated banking institutions, maintains financial system stability, and provides financial services to depository institutions plus they operate the nation’ s payments system. They operate through the Federal Open Market Committee and the Federal Reserve Bank branches located throughout the country. One of their primary functions as a Central Bank is to issue Federal Reserve notes, which constitutes our nation’s currency. They are also a clearinghouse and collecting agent for depository institutions.

Federal Reserve jobs are centered around the banking and financial industry and include everything from economists and attorneys, financial analysts, and bank examiner, to law enforcement, operations and administrative positions. They hire a broad spectrum of specialists and professionals. You will also find Federal reserve jobs in Washington D.C. with the Board of Governors which manages the Federal Reserve system. The board consists of seven members who are appointed by the President and each member must be confirmed by the Senate.

Introduction

 

One of the major components of the Federal Reserve System is the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) that consists of the Board of Governors members, presidents of four other Federal Reserve Banks and the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, they serve on a rotating basis. The FOMC monitors open market operations, the main tool that the Federal Reserve uses to influence monetary and credit conditions.

There are twelve Federal Reserve Districts where Federal Reserve banks and consequently Federal Reserve jobs are located. The Seattle Branch serves Alaska, and the San Francisco Bank serves Hawaii. The twelve districts also serves commonwealths and territories. The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands as are served by the New York Bank serves and American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are serviced by the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank.
