The Department of Energy employs 15,135 workes in a variety of occupations and provides a balanced national energy plan through the coordination and administration of the energy functions of the federal government. Eighteen of their employees work overseas. The department is responsible for long-term, high-risk research and development of energy technology; the marketing of federal power, energy conservation; the nuclear weapons program, energy regulatory programs, and a central energy data collection and analysis program.
